Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik at Interplastica

At Interplastica in Moscow from February 24 to 27, Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik GmbH, Bad Oeynhausen, Germany will present its successful conical twin-screw extruder model BEX 2-54 C. With its complete line concept - offering turnkey extrusion lines from a single source including planning and manufacture of all components - Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik has made a name for itself in the global market place in the areas of pipe, profile and sheet extrusion as well as plastic material preparation technology.

Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik introduced the extruder model that will be on display about three years ago, thus adding the first conical twin-screw extruder model to its product range. The new model met with such an enthusiastic response from the market that this product line was subsequently extended into a complete series of three conical twin-screw extruders. The extruders of this series are distinct from con-ventional conical machines by their negative-flight conical screw geometry. The flight depth is reduced in the feeding zone and increased in the ejection zone, which en-sures a high throughput performance as well as optimized homogenization and melt properties. The performance of the BEX 2-54 C, the extruder shown in Moscow, ranges from 10 to 130 kg/h. Its smaller sister model BEX 2-42 CC, designed to function as a co-extruder, handles throughput rates from 20 to 70 kg/h. The larger BEX 2-72 C extruder completes the series. It is also extremely flexible and lends itself to a great variety of applications, with a performance range from 50 to 250 kg/h. This model is ideally suited to the production of window main profiles at an average line speed of 3m/min.

Individual miniBEX profile lines

Full line competence is one of Battenfeld’s special strengths, evidenced once more in an impressive way by the miniBEX range. Custom-tailored for the manufacture of small profiles, this complete line concept combines the flexibility to meet individual needs with a high degree of cost-efficiency. The miniBEX product family consists of four extruder models and one down-stream finishing package. Selecting from this range, each customer can assemble his own complete line according to his individ-ual requirements. Thanks to a standardized machine frame for all models, the extruders’ processing units, including drives and motors, are interchangeable. Options available besides the conical extruder BEX 2-54 C on display are a 50 mm parallel twin-screw extruder, and two single-screw extruders with screw diameters of 45 and 60 mm.

“Plug and play” – no empty promise

Since the down-stream finishing equipment is shipped completely pre-assembled, the machine manufacturer guarantees an installation period on site of no more than a few hours. The finishing package includes a 4 m or 6 m calibration table, according to the customer’s choice, plus a belt haul-off and an electric saw. All of these com-ponents are completely screwed together and wired prior to shipment, so that the line is ready for immediate production start-up as soon as it is connected to the cus-tomer’s water and compressed air supply systems.
