OWENS CORNING ANNOUNCES MAJOR CAPITAL INVESTMENT TO ADD GLASS FABRIC KNITTING PRODUCTION AT TALOJA INDIA PLANT
Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A. February 18, 2004 – Owens Corning announced today that it will add glass fiber knitting capability at the Taloja, India, plant of Owens Corning India Limited (OCIL), a joint venture between Owens Corning, USA and Mahindra & Mahindra, India. The investment adds fabric knitting to the plant’s existing glass roving operations, to supply growing market demand in India and surrounding regions, especially for the wind energy market. India is currently the fifth largest country in the world in terms of installed capacity of wind mills.
OWENS CORNING ACQUIRES AUTOMOTIVE ASSETS OF LANCASTER FIBRE TECHNOLOGY
Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A. February 24, 2004—Owens Corning Automotive (UK) Ltd., a member of the Owens Corning family of companies, has acquired the automotive assets of UK-based Lancaster Fibre Technology Ltd. Lancaster Fibre Technology has traditionally supplied automotive solutions to the UK auto industry based on Owens Corning’s Silentex® Noise Control automotive silencer technology. Owens Corning has been a Lancaster supplier and customer for many years.

PARIS, 30 March, 2004 — At the annual JEC Composites Show, Owens Corning today introduced OC SE 1200 Type 30 single-end roving for knitting and weaving. OC SE 1200 roving is targeted at the wind energy and marine markets and sets new standards in dynamic fatigue properties when used in polyester resins systems.

Owens Corning Announces $30 Million Expansion at Jackson, Tenn., Glass Plant
TOLEDO, Ohio, February 23, 2004 – Owens Corning today announced the company will undertake a $30 Million upgrade of its Jackson, Tenn., facility to significantly increase glass fiber capacity. The expansion of the plant, which manufactures glass primarily for mat for residential and commercial roofing products but also for specialty glass applications, will be completed by August 2004.
Owens Corning to Acquire Outstanding Shares of Mexican Joint Venture
TOLEDO, Ohio, Jan. 26, 2004 – Owens Corning announced today that it has reached agreement with Vitro S.A. de C.V., a Mexican corporation, to purchase its interest in a holding company that owns Vitro Fibras, a Mexican-based joint venture of the companies. Owens Corning currently has a 40 percent ownership position in the joint venture, which was formed in 1957.
