Owens Corning Announces European Launch of Cultured Stone® Manufactured Stone Veneer Products at SaieDue Living 2007
Recent acquisition of The Modulo/ParMur Group advances the global expansion of Owens Corning Cultured Stone® business in the European building products market.
TOLEDO, Ohio, U.S.A. – March 13, 2007 – Leading building products manufacturer Owens Corning (NYSE:OC) today announced at the SaieDue Living exhibition in Bologna, Italy, the introduction of its range of Cultured Stone® manufactured stone veneer products in Europe.
“The recent acquisition of The Modulo/ParMur Group, a market-leading producer and distributor of manufactured stone veneer in Europe, paves the way for the introduction of Owens Corning’s Cultured Stone® products - the most recognized, most used and highest quality brand of manufactured stone veneer in the United States,” said Chuck Stein, president of Owens Corning Cultured Stone LLC.
Owens Corning is the world's largest producer of manufactured stone veneer products. The business began making replicas of natural stone in 1962 and today offers more than 21 textures, 100 colors and countless blended texture and color options for interior and exterior applications.
Christian Roggeman, former head of The Modulo/ParMur Group and now general manager, Owens Corning Cultured Stone® Europe added, “Joining forces with Owens Corning’s market-leading brand in North America offers the opportunity to mutually expand our portfolio of products leveraging manufacturing and technology synergies that will add value for customers around the world.”
In 2006, Owens Corning acquired the shares of The Modulo/ParMur Group, manufacturer of Modulo® and ParMur® brand of interior and exterior decorative wall claddings (known as manufactured stone veneer in the United States) as part of the company’s continued global expansion of the Owens Corning Cultured Stone® business which is already the leading producer of manufactured stone veneer in North America.
Cultured Stone® products are manufactured stones using a lightweight concrete material cast in molds taken from carefully selected natural stone using a process that faithfully captures even the faintest detail. Each color - blended throughout the entire product - and texture uses its own mix of cement, lightweight natural aggregates and iron oxide pigments. Cast from thousands of molds, no two stones are ever reproduced with the exact same coloring, essential to eliminate repetition.
‘SaieDue Living’ is an annual international exhibition focusing on architecture, interior finishing, building renewal and associated technologies. Further information concerning Owens Corning Cultured Stone® can be obtained by visiting MODULO S.A. exhibiting in Hall 34, Booth E30.
