KELTAN® MULTI-PURPOSE HIGH PERFORMANCE GRADE DELIVERS LOWEST SYSTEMS COST
Geleen, 03 November 2009 – Following the introduction of a developmental grade earlier this year, DSM Elastomers has now officially launched Keltan® 8642A, a fast curing, high green strength ENB grade with very good filler and plasticizer acceptance. The new grade is particularly suitable for extrusion and molding applications with high level of fillers, such as solid sealing systems.
Keltan® 8642A was introduced to satisfy the market need for high performance products offering premium performance at compound loading levels between 500 – 700phr. Compared to Medium Mooney crystalline EPDM grades, Keltan® 8642A has an increased compound loading level with retention of physical properties. Customers who have evaluated the product indicate that new Keltan® 8642A has an excellent fit. For instance, in automotive solid sealing system applications customers confirm excellent mixing performance and premium technical performance at high loading levels, offering optimal cost / performance balance
According to Keltan Product Manager Niels van der Aar, Keltan® 8642A was designed to specifically meet an identified market need: “In line with DSM Elastomer’s commitment to innovation, this new grade was developed and commercialized in a matter of months. The speed of the introduction of Keltan® 8642A underlines DSM Elastomers’ commitment to high quality, high standards of service and security of supply, which the company sees as its strategic pillars in meeting market requirements.” The company’s drive for innovation was highlighted earlier this year by the introduction of a new class of innovative Keltan products manufactured using a new advanced catalyst technology known as Keltan ACE™ technology.
Keltan 8642A is the latest addition to DSM Elastomers’ portfolio of Keltan grades. The Keltan portfolio is the result of more than 40 years of experience in the EPDM industry supported by continuous research and development and has been optimized in order to offer solutions for all application fields, ranging from window gaskets to high-end sponge applications and viscosity improvers for oil products.
The Keltan portfolio features Copolymers, DCPD, narrow, medium, broad and very broad MWD, low to very high ENB levels, Controlled Long Chain Branching (CLCB), Broad Mooney range, Oil extended grades and the industry's highest molecular weight polymer.
