Recommissioning of SABIC’s PPE operations at Bergen Op Zoom creates local employment opportunities

SABIC’s PPE plant in Bergen op Zoom is actively recruiting 59 skilled operators, process and service engineers, shift leaders and analysts as it resumes PPE resin production at the site. SABIC hopes to fill the roles by mid-2019, and a recruiting website has been launched to facilitate the hiring and application process: http://www.sabic-bergenopzoom.nl/nl/carriere/sabic-en-onderwijs.Last year, in response to customer needs, SABIC announced plans to recommission operations at its Bergen op Zoom PPE resin plant in the Netherlands with a phased ramp-up in production across 2020 to produce polyphenylene ether (PPE), the base resin for its line of NORYL resins and oligomers. Increased customer demand for NORYL resin – used in a vast range of industries such as water management, automotive, solar, industrial and electrical – prompted the capacity expansion plans.

The line is one of the three finalists in the category “Industry & Engineering” at the 2019 JEC Innovation Awards.SABIC will highlight the progress of its Digital Composites Manufacturing line, a breakthrough in automated digital system for rapid, large-scale laminate manufacturing, via a 360-degree virtual reality experience at JEC World 2019 (Hall 6, stand P12).
