FDA APPROVED DYNEEMA® FIBERS BENEFIT CUT RESISTANT GLOVE APPLICATIONS FOR FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRY

November 6, San Diego (CA). The recent approval for use of Dyneema® fibers in gloves for the food processing industry1 coupled with membership of the Dyneema® licensee program allowed Ansell Healthcare to convert to high-performance Dyneema® fibers for cut resistant glove applications. In the Polar Bear® Paw Gard® gloves from Ergo Products, a brand of the Ansell Healthcare group, the ultra strong fiber from DSM Dyneema combines up to ASTM-ISEA Level 5 cut resistance to deliver the superior protection of a heavyweight glove or sleeve with the close, comfortable fit of a lightweight. The Polar Bear® Paw Gard® gloves with Dyneema® can be seen Ansell Healthcare’s booth (# 3333) at the the National Safety Council Annual Congress & Expo in San Diego November 6-8, 2006.

Dyneema®, the world's strongest fiber™, has become a material of choice for protective gloves in many industrial segments by offering both comfort and protection. The Polar Bear® Paw Gard® cut resistant glove from Ansell, a global leader in protective products, is available in a variety of sizes and three basic models (lightweight, medium and heavyweight) for all types of food processing applications.

“By using Dyneema® in its products, Ansell is able to supply food processors with the superior protection of a heavyweight glove and the close, comfortable fit of a lightweight product,” said Keitha Kessler, Marketing Manager – Ergo Products, Ansell. “Polar Bear® PawGard® gloves with Dyneema have Level 4 and Level 5 cut resistance—the highest levels in the ASTM-ISEA standard—making them ideal for beef, pork, poultry, seafood and fruit and vegetable processors.”
