Ascend to showcase high performance chelate and clay stabilizers at the SPE International Conference on Oilfield Chemistry

HOUSTON – April 4, 2019 – Ascend Performance Materials, a global leader in the production of plastics, fibers and chemicals, will showcase a number of specialty chemicals that improve oilfield production at the International Conference on Oilfield Chemistry. Among the products the company will feature are FlexaTrac-NTA, a high-performance biodegradable chelate, and Hexatran and FlexaTram-DAM, two clay stabilization intermediates that outperform typical clay control salts.

FlexaTrac-NTA is a cost-effective and greener oilfield chelate, relative to the commonly used EDTA. With a higher binding capacity, FlexaTrac-NTA chelates more metal ions with substantially less material and is also readily biodegradable in both soil and fresh water.

The salts produced using Hexatran and FlexaTram-DAM provide greater performance and are more economical than choline chloride, potassium chloride and other quaternary ammonium compounds.

“Our unique and versatile chemistries improve production under a variety of conditions,” said Jonathan Craig, vice president of specialty chemicals at Ascend. “In the case of FlexaTrac-NTA, we also add value by reducing the environmental impact with a biodegradable solution.”

Ascend will be at booth 106 at the SPE International Conference on Oilfield Chemistry in Galveston, Texas, from April 8-9.
