Ascend to debut new Hexatran and FlexaTram-DAM high-performance additives at ECS

HOUSTON – March 12, 2019 – Ascend Performance Materials, a global leader in the production of plastics, fibers and chemicals, will debut new high-purity grades of its Hexatran and FlexaTram-DAM high-performance amines for the paints and coatings industry at the European Coatings Show.

Hexatran-110 is a 99 percent pure grade of the company’s unique trifunctional aliphatic amine, and FlexaTram-DAM-950 is an over 95 percent pure grade of 1,2-diaminocyclohexane (DCH).

With high amine values, low odor and low vapor pressure, both Hexatran-110 and FlexaTram-DAM-950 are effective as epoxy curing agents to improve the workability, flexibility and chemical and heat resistance of industrial coatings.

Hexatran-110 is also a potential triisocyanate precursor, providing alternate routes to carbamates and isocyanates. In urethane coatings, triisocyanate made with Hexatran helps resist yellowing and withstand harsh conditions, even at reduced thickness.

“We are focused on offering unique, value-adding products that improve performance for our customers,” said Jonathan Craig, vice president of specialty chemicals at Ascend. “Hexatran-110 and FlexaTram-DAM-950 help our customers produce stronger, more resilient coatings that withstand harsh environments without sacrificing workability.”

Starting point formulations for Hexatran in industrial coatings will be available at Ascend’s stand. The company will also showcase a growing portfolio of low-VOC solvents and its ultralow-VOC coalescing aid, Hextranol E.

Ascend’s Jonathan Craig and John Saunders, vice president for Europe, will be on hand at the European Coatings Show to discuss the company’s commitment to serving customers in the paints and coatings industry and Europe with products that help meet growing demand and increasing performance specifications.

Ascend will be at stand 4-217 in hall 4 at the European Coatings Show in Nuremburg, Germany, from March 19-21.
