Archroma announces distribution agreement with Van Horn, Metz & Company for its Mowilith® emulsions in the US market

  • Mowilith® are well established emulsions for providing adhesion, hardness and elongation to wood and metal coatings, concrete, and industrial paints.
  • Van Horn, Metz & Company will premiere Core Shell, a new technology based on Mowilith® introduced for the first time to US customers.

Reinach, Switzerland, 3 June 2021 - Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals towards sustainable solutions, today announced that it has entered an agreement with specialty raw material distributor Van Horn, Metz & Company for the distribution of its Mowilith® emulsions in the United States.

Archroma has established itself as one of the most experienced suppliers of polymer emulsion technology for waterborne coatings and paints in the world. Its Mowilith® emulsions are used by home decor manufacturers in Asia and Latin America to impart wood and metal coatings, concrete, and industrial paints, with high gloss, resistance to UV, water, dirt and scratch, and weatherability. This helps to protect walls, floors and other surfaces, reducing the need for regular maintenance and increasing their durability.

Van Horn, Metz & Company is one of the leading specialty raw materials distributors to paints, coatings, plastics, rubber and other specialty industrial markets in North America. The company focuses on the latest technologies and high-quality products, with superior customer service and convenient stocking locations.

Thanks to its partnership with Van Horn, Metz & Company, Archroma aims to better serve customers in the US market.

In particular, Van Horn, Metz & Company will premiere Archroma’s Core Shell technology for the first time to US customers. Core Shell has been designed by Archroma's experts in Indonesia, one of the most challenging climates for wood and other materials. It combines hard and soft polymer particles to create relatively hard, yet flexible coatings, with better scratch and dirt blocking resistance. The formulation also allows faster drying of the coating, with earlier blocking resistance.

The value created will benefit the manufacturer, with an end product that can be ready for stacking and packaging much faster, and the end consumer who will enjoy products that lasts longer.

Barrett Fisher, President of Van Horn, Metz & Company, comments: “We strive to offer leading solutions, quality products and superior customer service. Our goal is to bring the latest global technology to our customers, and Archroma has a proven track record with their high performing Mowilith® emulsions for wood and metal coatings. We are extremely pleased to be able to introduce the Mowilith® brand and the Core Shell technology to our customers. These unique products will continue to help our customers stay ahead of the competition.”

Bryan Dill, Head of Sales, North America, at Archroma adds: “Archroma and Van Horn, Metz & Company share the same belief that it is possible to create safe and sustainable furniture and home decors that are beautiful and durable. This partnership will allow the US market to finally enjoy the many benefits that have made Mowilith® the preferred emulsion brand for many manufacturers in many countries.”
