TE Connectivity Demonstrates Flexible Manufacturing at Hannover Messe

Leading technology companies cooperate in the SmartFactoryKL exhibition

DARMSTADT, Germany – April 19, 2017 – TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, announced its participation at the Hannover Messe, the world’s largest manufacturing industry trade fair, April 24 - 28, 2017. TE will be part of the SmartFactoryKL initiative, the “Industrie 4.0 production plant,” that highlights innovation and collaboration of leading technologies in a simulated factory environment.

The Industrie 4.0 production plant by the SmartFactoryKL partner consortium reflects an assembly plant enabling flexible production of a customized product . The Technologie-Initiative SmartFactoryKL e.V. and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) will present the Industrie 4.0 production plant in cooperation with 18 contributing partner companies at the Hannover Messe in Hall 8 / Booth D20.

As part of the Industrie 4.0 production plant, TE will be highlighting its bridge module for the maintenance and repair function in a smart factory. TE’s bridge module enables the replacement of any other module in the production process. A short program selection allows this module to eject each product at the appropriate production step and continue to a replacement manual assembly job. As a consequence, flexible failure-proof maintenance and variable degrees of automation of the production plant are possible.

Partners in the SmartFactoryKL Industrie 4.0 production plant include: Belden/Hirschmann, Bosch Rexroth, CISCO, EPLAN Software & Service, Festo, HARTING, IBM, iTAC, LAPP KABEL, METTLER TOLEDO, MiniTec, PHOENIX CONTACT, Pilz, proALPHA, TE Connectivity, TÜV SÜD, Weidmüller, and Wibu-Systems.

ABOUT SMART FACTORYKL

The technology initiative SmartFactoryKL e.V. was founded in 2005 as a non-profit association to establish a network of industrial and research partners which initiate and implement together research and development projects, ranging from base technologies to the development of marketable products. Today SmartFactoryKL is a manufacturer-independent demonstration and research platform and unique in Europe. Here, innovative information and communications technologies and their application are tested and developed in a realistic, industrial production environment. The technology initiative, supported by the active participation of its members, has already established pragmatic solutions, first products and common standards. SmartFactoryKL intensively cooperates with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Kaiserslautern and was appointed Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum Kaiserslautern (SME 4.0 Competence Center) by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in 2016. www.smartfactory-kl.de.
